I’ve always been someone who has loved celebrating birthdays. When I was a little girl, I would cry at the end of the day because my birthday was over and I had to wait a year for it to come around again. My close friends can attest that I am one to celebrate half birthdays too. Why not? So when it came time for my milestone 30th birthday, I knew that I had to figure out something special. A dinner party with close friends under the Golden Gate Bridge sounded absolutely perfect.
I first got the inspiration for this type of party here. I booked a day pass at Kirby Cove, which has access to a gorgeous beach. Half the guests were San Francisco natives who had never been to Kirby Cove!
I kept the décor as simple as could be with flowers that I picked up from Trader Joe’s that morning. I made a quick stop at Fisherman’s Wharf for the dinner – 17 pounds of steamed crab and clam chowder soup along with corn and potatoes and for dessert, chocolate cake!
The whole evening was magical - a truly serene setting. At one point my friend Tiffany commented “how often do you actually get to hear waves crashing on the sand?”. So true.My 30th birthday will definitely go down as my most special and memorable one yet.
P.S. – Check out my friend Meredith’s blog! She also posted some fun pictures from the event.
